I got this on loan when my ix3 was getting repaired, my family, especially my daughter didnt want me to give it back! Its a real looker and so luxurious, only downside was the range, not good for the stress levels.. and the boot was a disappointment, but id have it back in a heartbeat
Well I am sure the haters will jump on me here but I have ordered one of these in M Sport trim with some extras ... I get the point on the iX 50 but 95% of my journeys are well within the range of this version and 6.1 seconds to 60 in a 2.5 ton car is still pretty rapid feeling to me .... But what sold it to us was the full on space for 5 adults in the car and its SO comfortable to drive and be in .... Thought it was much prettier (ok maybe pretty is a stretch - less challenging to look at) in the metal than photos and videos online and nothing really touches it for size and comfort that I could find .... Perhaps when the Volvo XC90 all electric comes out I will be tempted back and the pre production shots of the Kia EV9 look fantastic ... so we shall see
@@jp_82 Sorry I just saw this .... I am loving the iX 40 M Sport .... no issues at all with it great range in real world for me of 220-240 miles on efficient mode with B selected everywhere but the motorway .... very comfortable and quick enough for me to stay away from 90% of the cars on the road ... Yes very happy One slight niggle with the BMW App which I had to erase and reinstall and reset my profile in the car ...but 10 minute no hassle fix Enjoy yours when it comes
@@synpol What options did you choose on the 40? My dad is looking at one as a company lease deal (so obviously no extras as it'll likely double the payments), but I fear coming out of a top spec RDesign Pro XC90 it'll feel a little unequipped.
One aspect of EVs which I'm starting to realise - whereas in the past we've paid more for more power in basically the same car (530i vs M5 for example), it would often result in less range because the fuel tanks were often the same size or not sufficiently bigger in the beefier motors. Now though, the more expensive car is required if you're ONLY chasing more range. Somewhat a reverse of what's been needed In The Past (do you remember those halcyon days?).
A year later the comparison of the 40 to the 50 has become much more salient since at the moment in the U.S. the 50 is not available with air suspension or rear-axle steering. This review seems to feel that the air suspension doesn’t make much of a notable difference. But I’d still be interested in specifically hearing if the (heavier) 50 without air suspension will be disappointing or still a ride worth the astounding price. Should add, I really appreciate the precise observations this excellent video makes.19:14
I have been driving a BMW EV for 8 months now and love it. And I had a choice of the iX40. Did I get it no. What did I get - iX3 m sport Why? Well bigger boot just Longer range with 80kw battery I believe it is 77 usable range and I get 220 miles winter and 250 miles summer. On a long run I do get 265miles summer. The toys on it are amazing and it carries 5 adults. Price £60k so why go for an ix 40 if given the option I would get the ix50 because of the range
I’m the opposite of most people I think. I think the exterior is quite good but I don’t like the interior. But please no fussy replies, i’m not a huge hater
Toray T1000 sheet: Hey guys, I'm so excited. I'm off to Stuttgart. Gotta be the new M2 CS. Thank you God. O what a disappointment that piece of carbon fibre felt when reality hit. Top review, thanks
I get it now. No matter which electric car I buy now, I will regret it in six months, because I will realize that I should have waited for the much better vehicle available by some one in six months! Tha ks for nothing really. So I will wait I think. Yes, that is my best decision mate.
Pound for pound, the Kia EV6 is still the best electric car currently on sale today. The range is one of the best in its class, reliability is second to none, warranty is second to none, and looks-wise well let`s say it looks better than a BMW iX.
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff yes, something to do with the electrical system, can order the 40 but not the M50. I’m test driving the iX 40 tomorrow but as it’s only 326hp I’m not too sure on it.
You’d have to be a “massive flap” to drop 70K on a 200 mile EV. If your badge snobbery didn’t exist, you’d get a Korean EV and have £35K left to buy a Cayman / F type.
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff I've done 50k kms in my Ioniq 5 and I'm changing it for an iX. Ioniq is great in many ways but no rear wiper is dangerous (sounds like a small thing but trust me, it's not), and the suspension is too crashy on rough roads. I test drove the iX50 and a friends e-tron on similar roads and the difference is huge. It's not just badge snobbery. My wife's 2021 e-Niro rides better over rough surfaces. Also the ABS is very sensitive to rough surfaces. On a dry day braking over rumble strips into a roundabout, the ABS often kicks in. Depreciation is so big on the iX (and most EVs) that you can get a 1-year old one for 30-40% off list.

Nice choice! And yes I agree - new Volvo XC90/Embla EV will be one to watch for sure
How are you getting on with the ix40 M Sport? Mine is due to arrive in November.

If you do the maths the 40 works out more efficient, really depends if you need to do 300 miles frequently enough at a time without charging.

Test drove the 40 today so this is really useful before I put a deposit down
I think it's stunning.
If range is not your priority, the iX40 is the better buy. 326hp is waaaaay more than you will ever need with enough left over to buy a Suzuki Jimny.
Nice coat. Should try leathers.
Is the car in this video the m sport or the base sport?

I drive an ix3 too and although I love it, you can tell its an X3 conversion..

No hate here!
Is it 4wd ?? As i need it to get up my brae and go to the Scottish highlands
Yup, anything 'xDrive' is four-wheel drive in BMW speak
My daughter thinks you are very bold so well done mate!!
1:10 No matter where I look, everything reminds me of her..
Would be good if the pro reviewers do actual range test so they can let viewers know the correct range these cars can do.

It’s a no from me 🙈
I do like the interior, plus the idea of the wood / crystal knob combo.
I’d like an EV6 instead please 🤓
£80,000 with options for the cheap version! Jesus

Compare for corrosion in a few years. Not much metal in the ix, mostly aluminium and carbon fibre 🤩
We had an ioniq5 now going for an ix…just can’t stand the ev6 looks lol. Somehow I think the ix looks better
You can’t buy the iX M50!!! I’ve just had my i4 M50 cancelled!🤬🤬
That's ridiculous - did they blame the chip shortage?

That's an expensive cordless iron.
